Green Technology Growing Despite a Weak Economy
Green Technology is still growing, and has been, despite all the recent economic setbacks. While millions of jobs have been lost in finance, retail, and just about every other field, the Green Industry is showing a light at the end of the tunnel. The current administration understands this. That is why the Federal Government pumping billions of dollars into green projects on the state and federal levels.
From the Charlotte Business Journal:
The U.S. Department of Energy has signed off on North Carolina’s $75.9 million Energy Plan, which will be funded through the state’s share of federal stimulus money.
The program is designed to improve energy efficiency, promote greater use of renewable energy resources and create more green jobs, according to an announcement by Gov. Beverly Perdue.
“With this approval, North Carolina is prepared to quickly move ahead to create jobs and position our state to become a national leader in green energy,” Perdue says. “I have directed the State Energy Office and other agencies to move as fast as possible to put these funds to work creating jobs and building North Carolina’s green economy.”
Also, going green can help companies save money in the long run. There was a recent news story about how some Connecticut businesses need to go green to stay competitive by bringing operating costs down.
From WFSB in Connecticut:
“In order to be competitive in Connecticut as a manufacturer, you need every advantage possible, and one way to do that is to be green — as green as possible — to save money,” Alinabal President and CEO Samuel Bergami Jr. said.
He said the company, which manufactures everything from John Deere tractor parts to complex alternators for high-tech mortar shells, installed energy efficient lighting and saved $50,000 a year. He said the company’s machinery uses incredible amounts of compressed air, so it installed a high-efficiency compressor and saved another $20,000 a year.
