Dot eco - What is it? When can you get one?

Dot eco is a new Top Level Domain (like .com , .net , .tv , etc) being pushed by former VP and Environmental Hero Al Gore as well as others.

There aren’t yet any rules on how the domain will be distributed, but the people from BigRoom have been trying to shape policy with YOUR help. I doubt there will really be any real way to say someone can’t join because they aren’t “Green” enough, so most likely there will be no rules. This is a good and bad thing. Good because new startups can get the .eco while trying to build their brand, bad because more people can just ride the Green Bandwagon and use it as a simple marketing tactic.

We’ll have to wait and see if ICANN accepts the domain, but I have a feeling .eco will be available soon.
